Usha mixed media and movement artist
Usha Mahenthiralingam Usha is an interdisplinary artist, combining her training in visual arts and movement – she weaves worlds and responds to the life of enquiry within educational, health and environmental settings. From the design of lino floors to creative curriculum’s, from teaching movement to creating installations, performance and film, her approach is playful, thoughtful and vibrant.
She feels passionately that intelligence is not just in the head but involves our whole wonderful selves. She is deeply interested in keeping the creative process alive and in particular the development of “spaces” and the interaction of spaces that support our physical, emotional and spiritual well being. In 2002 she was nominated Nottinghamshire Environmentalist of the year and granted the Green Guardians award her film Heaven on Earth. She is currently involved in a 2 year research program with Nottingham University on water literacy in collaboration with Papplewick Pumping Station and 5 pilot schools. |
