As a creative mentor for children in care I seek to celebrate strengths and support vulnerabilities through the creative arts and nature’s healing and vitalising presence… both allowing for a kind of ‘balm' of time – self recovery – self regulation – self discovery – self mastery and self expression.
We find opportunities to widen horizons in small moments of life’s extraordinary ordinary and through cultural visits to galleries, factories, events and festivals….
Relationships and embodiment are key, side by side voyaging with our imaginations, our hands and whole bodies, making, moving, being, listening, questioning, playing - retrieving the essence of an early childhood so often disrupted and challenged….
My practice draws on the diversity of the worlds I’ve explored in the fields of the arts, embodiment and early years development.
Improvising in response to what’s needed… giant soft sculptures for safe rough and tumble holding and hugging…climbing trees becoming avenues to study aerial trapeze - spreading wings and aspirations!
Our signature – our original sign of our nature finding space to be affirmed and find its blossoming!
Understanding the neuroscience and the patterns of reflex development have given me language to support my field from the occasional judgement that we’re simply messing about!
Hooray for messing about is what I say !
