Because of my own experiences at school (see My Story), bringing learning to life is close to my heart.
I strongly believe the creative arts bring their own wisdom and vitality to any learning process
I respond to each project through the applied arts, multi - sensory or inter- disciplinary approaches to tap into our innate intelligences.
I work with diverse themes depending on the subject area and designing experiences to support an appreciation of ourselves , each other and our environment.
My mediums are varied and eclectic.
I am an accredited Artsmark practitioner and have also worked with the Arts Award scheme.
Here is what I can offer:
The slideshows below show some of the projects I have previously been involved in.

Tinkers Collage
Tinkers collage is born out of an extensive collection domestic industrial and factory waste as part of object placement and loose parts exploration. O for the joy of arranging objects and tinkering… it is human nature to fiddle and sort !
I use Tinker collage with all ages and intergenerationally: story mapping, emotional literacy exploring feeling states, choreographic scores, design, interior or architectural spaces from geo politics to digestion and many other subject areas.
Its versatility gives room for imagination and invention that exceeds paper and pencil. It awakens the kinaesthetic dimension – moving and placing objects animates language so readily!
It can be its own vehicle of exploration or weave within other modalities to generate ideas and foster social engagement.
One persons tat is another’s treasure: an excellent model of reusing and recycling Earth's valuable resources!

Textiles
Having been a textile designer and used simple paper stencils for all my work, it gives me great pleasure to share screen printing or paint and resist techniques (on occasions combining both).
Technical skill and creative process come together to offer us hands-on experiences where the practical, functional and beautiful combine in the making of banners, wall hangings, t-shirts, tents, bunting, floor mats and curtains…
From small scale to large scale; empowering and satisfying to create for yourself and your environment!
“The Pupils don’t always find it easy to convert their ideas into prints - it’s a good challenge, gets them thinking with lots of motor skills at work to. Once the design becomes a paper stencil - it’s great to see the children’s faces light up when they see the first their print materialise!” ––Staff
“I love pulling the squeeze across - it’s magic when it comes onto my t-shirt and I can print it again and again - really cool.” ––Pupil

Robin Hood Treehouse – participation in design
I have been involved in many fabrications projects as a consultant or creative facilitator.
The following collaboration with Campbell Designs was a delightful opportunity to take a school on a creative journey - imagination and ideas on paper coming to life ! The idea of tree house came from the children – a flexible learning space as part of the school's new build and Building Schools for the Future Programme 2010.
Being part of the design process from start to finish is an exciting prospect when so much of our manufacturing has diminished and we live in an easy come, easy go "off the shelf" culture.
Allowing the process to guide us towards the product is key. It brings with it the unexpected, and fruitful surprises!
"Our children rarely get an opportunity to see behind the scenes and just what it takes to create something permanent . From beginning to end this was a wonderful process for our children to be part of and a great space for them to enjoy." ––Jo Bell, Headteacher
“I liked pressing the button that bent the metal - it was epic seeing how strong the machine was!” ––Pupil
